Altmet Refining Services is a South African based refinery that focuses on local processing of catalytic converters and pre-sorted E-wastes. We were formed out of a desire to localize the precious metal recycling value chain for localized maximum extraction of value from waste. We are a local integrated processor and refiner of catalytic converters and pre-sorted electronic wastes, employing a new innovative and efficient in-house developed low energy consuming refining process. We believe in local beneficiation of precious metal waste, creating jobs and extracting value for the South African economy.
Our process by-passes the energy consuming steps employed in traditional processing, attaining superior metal recovery yields and producing market ready precious metals and value added precious metal products. This presents us with higher returns which are in turn shared with our supplier partners.
Currently, the process refines catalytic converters to recover platinum, palladium and rhodium with the potential to process pre-processed E-waste as well. Suppliers of pre-processed E wastes are welcome to get in touch with us.
The ARS process is capable of processing and refining low quality catalytic converters that would otherwise be uneconomical to export. Suppliers are invited to discuss their precious metal waste compositions with us for tailored and mutually beneficial acquisition terms.
Different scrap valuation techniques are available according to scrap quantity and supplier preference. Singular, canned converters are priced according to our regularly updated database of more than 14000 catalytic converter serial numbers. Bulk, de-canned and (sometimes milled) converters are homogenized, sampled and assayed using wet digestion and ICP analyses. The purchase price is then determined according to metal assays and prevailing metal market prices.
Absolutely! Even if you want to sell your own stripped off dysfunctional converter, you are welcome to engage any of our supply champions. We can process low quality scrap like sub 1000 ppm catalytic converters that otherwise would be uneconomical to export to refiners outside of the region.
